The use of chlorinated paraffin as extreme pressure additives in metalworking fluids is a long debated topic in the metalworking fluid industry. Chlorinated paraffins have shown usefulness in applications involving the most difficult materials such as Inconel and various grades of Stainless Steel, however they are never accepted by many state and federal agencies like The United States Environmental Protection Agency and the State of California EPA.

Digital Metalworking Fluid Mixing

Obtaining and maintaining the proper concentration at separate machines is a lot of work. Mueller Geraetebau of Germany manufactures a pair of quality digital metalworking fluid mixing units. The mixers are specifically designed to take advantage of the common set-up where the same emulsion is required on different machines. The emulsion is pumped without spillage to the individual machines over distances of up to 400 meters. Delivery heads of 30 meters are possible.

(IPA Wire - April 1) Privately held Ice Nine Corporation of Colorado announced the simultaneous filing of 11 U.S. Patent applications directed to a new family of metalworking fluids and equipment for its manufacture and maintenance. It is the largest single day filing of patent applications by one company in lubricant industry history.
