We caught this really great response by Steve Markus to an End User's question on another forum, so we had to link it for you. The End User's question was related to the safety and legality of using amines and metal nitrates in a vibratory finishing compound. The answer is excellent in the way Mr. Markus breaks down the advice End Users are receiving from some suppliers regarding the difference between mass finishing compounds and metalworking fluids.

Wallover Oil Acquires Commonwealth Oil

The worldwide consolidation of metalworking fluid suppliers continues, as reported in Aerospace Manufacturing and Design. Wallover Oil Company, of Strongsville, Ohio, has acquired Commonwealth Oil of Harrow, Ontario, Canada. According to the company website, Wallover Oil was chartered in 1863, making it one of the oldest independent manufacturers of lubricants in the United States today .

Wow.  Look at that cool logo.  Maybe we should give an annual award to the company with the coolest logo.  More importantly, volatile organic compound (VOC) restrictions being put in place by California’s South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) are sending the metalworking industry scrambling to get compliant by the January 1, 2012 implementation date.
