Coolant
Hi, we are currently using trim VHP E812 coolant in our Toyoda horizontal mills with high pressure coolant. We have several employees complaining about rashes caused by the coolant. I was just wondering if you had heard of this problem from anyone else and do you have any recommendations on a different coolant we could try.
Thanks Mike

Dear Mike, Make sure the
Dear Mike, Make sure the coolant is mixed to the proper range first. Evaporation will drive up concentration to 1-4 ratio ranges which will cause an otherwise good coolant to irritate people. Horizontal mills have high evaporation rates so mix your makeup coolant on the low side to compensate for this. Say you want a 5% 1-20 mix, then top off machines with a say 3% 1-30 mix and verify with daily concentration or Refractometer checks. Otherwise, yes, this coolant may just have too much biocide, high pH or something that is irritating. Talk with your supplier and consider changing coolants. Thanks for Reading! Bruce
