Machine Rusting

I have a few machines that the bed is rusting in a few areas. The coolant is maintained correctly and the rep says it is because the machine is not grounded. The electrics are but not the machine itself. Will this cause rusting to occur? some type of electrolysis? Static electricity?

Anyone else seen this?

Dear Reader, I have not heard of that one, though coolant in mix range does NOT mean no rust, If the coolant is mixed with hard water or has evaporated and been run to a high hardness/chloride/sulfate dissolved solids condition, it will rust even at a 1-10 mix. So should consider getting a new coolant supplier than can test for all these conditions. Try to limit chlorides/sulfates and total hardness 300ppm and dissolved solids to 3000 micro ohms or so. Good Luck, and thank for reading METALWORKING FLUID MAGAZINE Bruce
