The use of chlorinated paraffin as extreme pressure additives in metalworking fluids is a long debated topic in the metalworking fluid industry. Chlorinated paraffins have shown usefulness in applications involving the most difficult materials such as Inconel and various grades of Stainless Steel, however they are never accepted by many state and federal agencies like The United States Environmental Protection Agency and the State of California EPA. These agencies restrict the use of CP's in metalworking fluids due to the environmental, health and safety risks associated with such products. American Research Products Inc. is a manufacturer of metalworking products from Southern California, and claim to have a series of high performance products with ultra low VOC's, that are free of chlorinated paraffins. Paul A. Frederick, talks more about their products along with few case studies which are made by them only through a white paper, provided here for our readers.
