Two new ASTM work Items have been established at ASTM for the purpose of updating exsiting standards to reflect recent advancements in testing methods and options for biologicals in metalworking fluids.  The good work of ASTM continues!

ASTM WK41593 - Revision of E1326 - 08 Standard Guide for Evaluating Nonconventional Microbiological Tests Used for Enumerating Bacteria (The 'Nonstandard' Standard).  Since 2008, there have been several new non-culture based test methods approved by ASTM. This review will focus on ensuring that the guidance provided in E1326 remains current and consistent with stakeholder community best practices.

ASTM WK41594 - Revision of E2275 - 03(2008) Standard Practice for Evaluating Water-Miscible Metalworking Fluid Bioresistance and Antimicrobial Pesticide Performance.  This review will focus on ensuring that E2275 terminology is harmonized with E2756 and that it references ATP, Acid Fast Bacteria and Endotoxin test methods/practices E2694, E2563, E2564 and E2675,respectively. Wording will also be added to address the inclusion of biofilm testing options.
