At Oemeta-Inc they call themselves “The coolant Company.”  The home page is impressive, and includes a soothing color combination with neatly organized content to make navigation easy.  Even if you are from a continent where English is still considered as a difficult language to understand, you can navigate by clicking directly on pictures. Excellent pictorial representation lower half of the page. That's the easy part.  Let’s see how they rate on our Selection and Application tests.

PAGE TEST: (+4 (out of 5)) On a separate APPLICATIONS page, you get all of the products on one page!  Best of all, they are listed by Material and Operation.  Excellent! Unfortunately, there is little other product detail on this page, so  it is not nearly as good as some of the charts we have seen.  If you stay with the Products page, you get product families listed on left column, but every family has multiple products. We need to flip back and forth to compare products.

CLICKS TEST: (-4) Some real patience is needed here as it takes four clicks to travel from the home page to reach product details.

CHART TEST: (0) A missed opportunity here.  There is no single source to compare detailed product properties and applications.

CLASSIFICATION TEST:

Organization- Good to see they help us understand products by material and application under the “Fields of Application” tab. But the problem here is the generality of the field titles without more data on the page.  For example, what is the difference between STANDARD MACHINING and MACHINING OF STEEL.  With seven options, if I am machining steel, it takes more than a glance to decide where I should start.

Detail- Details are limited. There is a species of users like me love reading the PDS (Product Data Sheet).  We don’t see links to the PDS anywhere.

Uniformity- Uniformity between products is good.  However, we see that as with many manufacturers, you find lots of repetition when it comes to explaining product features.

Failing the CLICKS, PAGE, AND CHART tests, Oemeta-Inc still impresses with an additional tab “Selection by Applications” but Selection chart with color dots is what we really look for. We want to choose right product from Menu on our own.
